GPA spare parts kit on EBAY

Post by acmack » Fri Nov 14, 2008 8:14 pm

Larry Kirschner has an "original" spare parts kit for sale on EBAY.
If a G-man wins it would they be willing to post photos of it with box dimensions on the G so that the rest of us could repro the box for display purposes?
I'm bidding on it as well. Price is going up too fast so I don't think I'll win it BUT if I win I'll post lots of photos for others to duplicate.

Did anyone ever find out the dimensions of the Ford GPA Spares Kit Box? The outside dimensions of the BOTTOM would be helpful or the interior demensions of the BOTTOM of the box. I have seen photos of the spares box, nut not any pics and I recently ran across a couple Ford boxes that..who knows..... might be the proper sizes. If I can find out this info I will go back and see if I can obtain them....for you guys....I don't have a GPA!

A good clear copy of the box contents or a pic of the GPA manual that gives that would be a nice touch also!

PM me or email or just post here...thanks!

Chuck,

I think I have a box of the GPA spare parts kit, with some parts in it but not complete.
Will have to look it up and make some photos and take the dimensions for you.

I do have photos of a complete box (not mine), give me your PM and I will send them to you.

Please give me a few days for the dimensions.
Regards,

Leo Verhagen

Allright David and Chuck, this is all the info I have below:

Measeruments of my box (I'm not 100% shure if it is the right box, but I think it is):
12" long, 10" wide and 6 1/2" height. This is the box, not the lid on top.

My box is OK, but the lid is in bad shape after all these years:

This is how a complete box looks like:

This is the packing list with the contents:

Details of the contents/parts:

Part of my collection so far (I have some more, but could not find them today):

I hope this answers your questions.
Chuck, if you have a good lid for my box, I'm interested.

Thanks Leo!

Gee, that box looks easy to repro!

Are the folded sides of the box glued or stapled in place?

Where is the box stored in the vehicle?

David,

The folded sides are stapled.

I have no official record of the stored place of the box in the vehicle, but most logical will be behind the rear seat next to the battery tray (left or right) in my opinion.

David,
Please let us know if you find a good source for the cardboard.

Hmm....is anyone sitting on a GPA spares box that has the original Ford tag on it that confirms that it is the correct box? Leo's measurements are, if I understand correctly, of a box that MIGHT be correct....

I have one that is 11 5/8" x 6 3/8" x 6" OD on the lid....

PS...I ran into a GPA marked fan belt, which one I can't remember, is anyone interested in it?

Chuck,

Here is mine still sealed in wax with the spare parts tag on it. It measures 14.5" long 9" wide and 6 " deep... Sorry for the blurry pics, but the label reads GPA 18353 B
Obviously because of the wax dipping it may be a hair bigger than the box but that's generally it. Under the wax it is that same charcoal black cardboard that everyone is familiar with from ford parts boxes. I have two of them and they are identical. Hope this helps.
