69 DJ-5A Parts
Crazy long shot but I figured I'd ask here. I'm looking for parts for the 1969/70 Kaiser built DJ-5A Dispatcher 100 Jeeps. Beginning in 1971 these were built by AM General and have the 5 slot grill & funny hood most people think of when you say Postal Jeep. I'm looking for parts for the ones that share a lot more with the CJ. Also any photographs of these in military service I would be interested in as well.
Thanks
Matt
Thanks
Matt

Thanks I have to see if I have the time guide. I have most of the manuals for the A model now. I know I'm missing the operators manual. I recently obtained a service manual. Before that I just used the service data from a late 60's Chevy II.

Re: 69 DJ-5A Parts
I recently sold this LHD DJ5F with about 55,000 miles on it. It was used by the NAVY. It still had the US NAVY and FOUO on the side. I fixed the brakes, electrical gremlins and leaks. I moved on to a DJ5 and just couldn't have two projects.
When I bought it.
It is the only one I have seen with the factory rear spare tire. There were bushings in the door to keep it more stable and a support bracket for the curb side of the door frame so all the weight was not on the hinge.
This is a photo of when I was trying to get a reproduction dataplate. The one on the dash was pretty faded.
It also appeared to have served with the USDA.
The previous owner had shot primer all over but masked off the USN and #. I wet sanded off the primer but it was in need of paint.
Markings on the rear.

Ojgrsoi,
That's very cool. I'm on the DJ forum on Facebook and there's a handful of military ones out there. I've seen reference to mid-60's DJ-5 (no suffix) 2wd, basically CJ-5 that's 2wd with a hard top being used on bases in Germany and England. Then Jeep started making them automatic with the 5A model. But I haven't seen any 5A's used by the military. But later under AM General they marketed them to DoD and sold at least a few.

Re: 69 DJ-5A Parts
I looked and I don't have the flat rate time guide. I would be curious if yours is the 69/70 version with the full color photo of the Jeep on the front cover. If so I would be interested.Jeep Forte wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2020 5:58 pmWOW matt DJ-5a parts ? Re: 69 DJ-5A Parts
The correct rear tire bracket was a swing out , just like the 1970's and 1980's CJ7 jeep had. Wasn't bolted to the back door. My DJ5D has original bumper ID markings
