Hi, Just picked up a 1947 CJ-2A
Trying to determine what block I have.
Serial number on side of block behind oil filter is
441-62695
The block casting number is
638632 W1
To the left of that is
11-22 or maybe 11-23
In the meantime - i will continue the interweb search!

That is a pre war Americar engine; chain drive; someone installed it in your 47. It should have a gear drive engine with the serial number on the front boss above the water pump and no side pad at all.

Up to you but correct motors are easy to get; come over and I'll sell you one for $250 that needs rebuilding. I, personally, would not use it only because it is the wrong era engine. Sell it.
