Replacement rear floor for a 3A
I'm looking for a rear floor for a 3A. All the repros I have seen are for a 2A / 3A which means that when used on a 3A the three footman loop indents are three to four inches too close to the front seats.
A 3A rear floor has the indents to the rear of the first brace, while the 2A floors have the indents forward of the front brace. The 2A floor will fit in the 3A, BUT due to the wrong placing of the footman loop indents, the rear canvas curtain (making the cab into a short cab) cannot be used.
Does anyone know of someone making correct 3A rear floors? It is annoying to see repro floors being advertised as being good for a 3A when in fact they are not.

I looked at Classic Enterprises site and you are correct it does say the floor indents are moved to far. I got one from them a long time ago and they are indeed sloped forward with my curtain installed which is how I have it set up. Don't recall if that was stated then but didn't matter too me. Actually I never even gave it a thought until this post.

Here they are. It is not a lot of play with the buckle and not as tight as the picture indicates. I had my top made by New Life Canvas (do not recommend using them)

Re: Replacement rear floor for a 3A
Interesting detail on the footman loop location! I bought a rear deck from Classic Enterprise back when I was getting the body fixed. That detail about the footman loop location that you pointed out (and is also included on their website) was not a part of the description back then. They've added that disclaimer at some point.
So I had to go out and look. Sure enough, my footman loop attachment points are too far forward. The tub is installed and painted. Fixing that now would be a real PITA. It's my fault for not checking this prior to finishing up the tub. But at least now, I know why its going to be out of place. I personally feel that using the wheel well footman loops will help the fitment of the top and like Steve's, that bottom portion of the rear flap will angle inwards some to attach to the floor footman loops.
The top fabrication/installation is still a bit far away.

Re: Replacement rear floor for a 3A
Thanks to Rus and Steve for their comments.
I'm not really sure what I am going to do right now. The rear floor in the 3A tub is very rough but solid. IE, it is dented but not rotten. I think I'll probably leave it as is - Lord knows, I have enough money into the project already (so what's new?).
Thanks for all the input.

Re: Replacement rear floor for a 3A
I should add that back when my tub was getting its new parts, I at least fixed the rear seat attachment points (no plate above the indent) as well as the holes for the frame mounts. IF I'd known then about the footman loops, cutting and moving those footman loop indents would have been done then too!

With the above mentioned deviations, I will say the quality of the CE parts are great! I've had to alter most of them (even the hat channels), but still like the quality.

I agree re the Quality of CE panels. I have bought several pieces from them for this project and have been very happy.

Re: Replacement rear floor for a 3A
With only 131,000 CJ 3a's made I guess setting up for specific part like the floor indents probably is a cost issue. Don't know what is involved in the stamping process but a lot more MB and 2a's is a bigger market for certain. As for Classic he is a credit to the restoration hobby. I remember way back you could call on a Saturday or even a Sunday and he would answer the phone and talk about parts and was really interested in what you needed and really built a great selection over time.
