Can WWII combat rims be mounted on a 1978 Jeep DJ5G postal jeep and Will tires 235 75 R15 fit on WWII combat rims?

Thanks for the help! Rob

Rob,
Not an expert but, I'll add some information and hope it helps.

I believe the wheels on the early jeeps are all the same dimensions - all derived from the military wheels. So my assumption is they all have the same lug pattern, i.e. 5" on 5.5" (hope that's the right terminology). To me I believe the military wheels and CJ wheels are interchangeable - up through CJ's and some other early models - excluding the optional 15" wheels, although the bolt pattern would still be the same.

I am nearly completely unfamiliar with the DJ jeeps - especially the later ones. I've seen images of both 5 lug wheels and 4 lug wheels. I don't know when the differences occurred. To me, if you were able to determine the lug pattern of your DJ-5 you'd know whether the combat rims would fit.

The radial you asked about could be doable on a civilian rim (compatible with the optional 15" civilian wheel). I may be wrong but I thought the combat rims were 16" diameter. If so, then a 15" tire won't fit.

Combat rims are 16" diameter. I'm not sure of the bolt pattern off the top of my head.
