Identify My Engine
I have a Willy’s engine that I am removing from my 1942 MB Slat grill. All of the components bolted on it were Ford GPW as is the Transmission and transfer case. The engine serial number on the engine boss above the water pump is 2T22436. What does the "T" stand for in the engine serial number? What did this engine come out of? Thanks in advance for help.

Re: Identify My Engine
The leading 2 indicates that it was a 2 wheel drive truck. The four wheel drive truck engines were stamped "4T"

Re: Identify My Engine
Are these truck engines rare or sought after more so than the CJ engines? I do not need this engine. It turns freely.

Re: Identify My Engine
Probably worth about the same as a comparable shape CJ engine. A lot of people re-engine the trucks as they are pretty slow with 4 cylinders! I wouldn't think there would be much demand for it from them.
Is it stamped on top of the deck or on the oval pad like a WW2 engine? Might help date it, as would the casting numbers.

Re: Identify My Engine
Does it run without smoking? can you show it running? compression? Once you rebuild it those numbers are gone with a deck job. Unless it has a supersonic head on it its just another cj engine. Whats it worth, long blocks laying in the garage are a dime a dozen here in NEPA. Been along time since I sold a cj engine to someone in this country. skid it up, take it to a jeep show, compete with somebody else with one and get 200 bucks if you are lucky. Seems a good crank, cam and rods are worth more then the engine.Post it on the 2a page and see if you get any offers. or willys tec if that is still around.

Re: Identify My Engine
Yep. I don't know how rare/sought after those engines are. I've only ever seen a couple of trucks of that vintage. One was on the convoy in 2015.
