Correct 45 CJ2A windshield?

Post by TWN » Fri May 17, 2019 6:36 pm

I am starting a restoration of a 45 CJ2A. From what I have read, the correct windshield is a MB style windshield. I thought that the MB style windshield outer frames were shorter than the later CJ windshields. Is that correct? Did the sheet metal have WILLYS stamping in it? What about the square washers? Thanks for the help! I just want to put the correct windshield in place. Tom

TWN,
This post may help some.

Be sure to open links from Sean as they show comparisons.

There's a lot of info posted in the 'Parts Project' that help identify specifics.

I remember the first CJ2A's having the non locking MB inner frame with just the loop type handle to pull it to.

Below is a link to the early 2A page listed below. The photos in the link are of my 45 CJ 2A. I hope they will answer your windshield question.

https://www.thecj2apage.com/forums/1945 ... page2.html

Yes, you are correct on the square plates on the front of the windshield in lieu of the round plates on the later 2A windshields.

I hope this will be of some assistance,

Frank, that is a lot of help. Great reference pics. I guess that I need to begin my hunt for the correct outer frame. It appears that I have the correct inner frame based on your pics. Tom

Tom,

The very early ones are rare by virtue of the square heads on the top bow "bolts" versus the round heads. Ernie had one for sale, though I'm not certain if it sold or not: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=306887

Hope this helps.
