Can anyone tell me if you can remove part #5 without dropping the whole T90 and transfercase? The stud has broken free of its casting. Thanks

Yes, you can, but the Companion Flange and Parking Brake assy, have to come off first. #5 is attached to the transfer with plain cap screws, note that they are different length. It's simple to change the Seal while you have that Bearing Cap off.
Use Permatex #3 to seal the threads of the bolts to prevent GO seepage.
It will not be necessary to drain the transfer if you use jack stands to elevate the rear of your JEEP. If you do not raise it, the X-Fer must be drained.
