Prestolite MDU 7004 and MDU 7003 interchangable?

Post by prc148 » Sun Apr 28, 2019 9:24 am

I know the 7004 is for the F- series 4-cylinder and the 7003 is for the 6-cylinder 226 Super Hurricane but are they interchangeable? The starter drives can be swapped but I’ve also seen several sources say the starters can and can not interchangeable. What is the difference? I ask because I think I have an untagged 7003 or 7004 take-off with only the PS360 starter drive pinion housing and L 6 G stamped below the cellinoid.

Your picture looks like a 7004. You could call Walcks and talk to them they are pretty helpful
