Hi all, please see attached pic of what I think a CJ2A screen? This came with a '42 GPW I recently bought - I was wondering if it was an early CJ screen as the inner appears to be exactly the same as my '43 MB and one of the pieces of glass is LOF marked with a 5-45 date on it. Main reason is if it happens to be very early and rare I would rather it went to a good home - my current plan if its just an old Jeep screen is to use it as wall art (The Mrs has banned it from the living room but I think it would look great made into a shelf in the kitchen.........)
I have more pics - just didn't want to clog you guys up with lots of pics of a screen

Re: CJ2A ? Windshield / Screen identity
The outer frame is definitely CJ-2A, note the two studs for that are used to clamp the stowed bows on CJ-2A Windshields only, you turned it around to view the reverse side it will show the latch that locks the inner windshield in closed position. MB only has a handle on the inner frame, CJ-2A has a latch.
The inner frame assy of the CJ-2A shares same dimensions with MB.
Nice find.

Hey Ben, You are surprising me. Seems to me you forgot that CJ-2A from First one produced, #10001 to #15304 used that same handle and swing out arms as the WWII MB/GPW.

Re: CJ2A ? Windshield / Screen identity
I understand. Now we have to see what's on back for the definitive answer. Does it have the wartime arms or the type seen on the majority of the CJ-2A's.

Don't believe this is an early CJ2A windshield but a later CJ2A windshield. The early ones had square washers instead of round washers where the two studs, that are used to clamp the stowed top bows, are located.

Photos on Fred Coldwell's "PREPRODUCTION CIVILIAN JEEPS" Page 133 photo 8.03/8.04 confirms the "square plates"
Now, we have to see what the backside of this CJ-2A windshield looks like.
Thank you Fred, for your excellent early CJ book.
