I'm trying to figure out if this generator/regulator combination is 6 volt or not. The generator has no markings on it that I can see and is a bit longer than the standard.
The bracket has been modified to handle the additional length.

Re: Help me ID generator & regulator
There were no other markings on this unit except what is written on the cover, "made in the USA" on one of the corners and 6AE on the bottom.
What do I have here?
Thanks,
Bill

bill,
I'm no electrician and there may be folks here smart enough to ID those parts. But what I do know is that if you take them to a good Electrical/Alternator shop they can test your equipment and not only tell you what it is but whether or not it's working properly.

Did you ever ID this generator? I picked up something very similar and it is marked 12volt.

I would say it’s a AC delco generator.
You can determine 6v vs 12v generator by measuring the resistance of the field windings, typically 3-5 ohm = 6 volt, 7-8 ohm = 12 v.
