Original MBT Wiring Harness

Post by OldGPW » Wed Oct 12, 2022 5:29 pm

I was going through some stuff (yes you really can have too much  ) and came across a wiring harness I bought nearly 20 years ago. I met another jeep owner who was restoring an MBT, he'd bought an original wiring harness but he wanted to make a copy of it since he planned on getting the trailer wet and muddy and didn't want issues with old cloth covered wiring. We made a deal and I purchased the harness.

Fast forward to now and I have no real use for it; I never needed it and no longer really anticipate buying a trailer to restore. I believe it was a NOS harness, though I only have it as it came to me. I believe he said it was in the package when he got it, but it was gone by the time he sold it to me (he wanted to reenact so packaging wasn't as important back then).

Does anyone have any idea what it may be worth? Someone out there is probably trying to restore an MBT with original parts, so it's got to be worth something to someone.

Hi guys!

Sorry it's been a long weekend, I got several PM's about it but I don't know what it's worth yet. I took some photos yesterday and planned on posting them tonight, but I'm, just too tired. I'll work on getting the pictures of the wire up tomorrow evening.

Hi guys, after a delay due to things outside my control, here are the photos of the harness. So do we have a consensus that this is a WWII MBT wiring harness, and if not what is it??

So the big questions are what is it and what's it worth?

It's worth what a ready, willing and able buyer is going to pay for it and what a ready, willing and able seller if going to accept. You have had PM's and offers and you are still posting, so you are holding an auction and will eventually sell to the highest bidder. Then you will know what it's worth. But, no one else will.

Good luck with it. 80 year old cloth wiring scares the heck out of me. But, it's only 6 volts.

Has a civilian trailer harness been ruled out?

Hi Guys,

Appreciate the responses!

I don't know what this is for - only what I was told it was for. I asked around and I do not know what the consensus is. One person said it looked like a G529 harness, another that they did not know what it was for but that the loom looked like the kind Bantam used.

Can anyone confirm what it is or is not? I'd like to find it a new owner, but I don't want to misrepresent it.

Hi, I run Bantamt3c.com

I do not believe this is for a Civilian Bantam T3-C but if you still have and want it to go to a good home, I could use it to develop a prototype Civilian Harness and also research further what it might be for.
