FS- Bantam T3-C (SW climate)

Post by USAFpj » Tue Sep 13, 2022 1:45 pm

Here's a decent 1/4T trailer that's ready 'as-is' for work, or to restore. Came from a dairy near Albuquerque, NM to my home in SC.

Tailgate intact with original hinges that move freely, tires hold air, rolls easily, and with limited amounts of rust-through in bed. I added an image of the largest hole in the floor, but it is overall intact and without any issues or drama. If you need more detailed pictures, I am happy to send- I apologize for the poor image of the bed; those are poplar leaves (not holes) that should have been removed first  . Comments both good and bad are welcome! $500

Negatives-
Original Fulton hitch absent
No trailer chains
No landing leg
Modern light buckets/wiring
No signs of data plate (possibly hidden underneath the paint?)

PM sent for exact location. Warmly interested, but even if we leave the tail gate in for Bubba, here is what I am thinking it needs to be remotely a Bantam T3 look alike.

Drawbar casting with landing leg pin, swivel and landing leg
safety chains
Wll hardware to attach
Correct lunette eye
Data plate
All parking brake hardware, handle, cable, , shoes, backing plates, etc.
reflectors
combat rims and tires, flaps and tubes
electrical including harness and embilical cord
tail lights and possibly brackets
blackout light switch

Hmm...it's a starting point, but I guess what is being sold is a tub, frame and axle with leaf springs.
Am I missing anything in the parts list?

Similar to 'converting' a CJ2A to a Willys MB. Not sure if the juice is worth the squeeze of taking a civilian trailer and conforming it to military attire.

If you want a T3, please just go buy one, the T3-C is rare in it's own right, don't destroy it.

Agreed. As with the early CJ's the civilian trailers have their own nicque and market. I was just running a checklist if someone were to replicate the military version. The missing Bantam coupler is a hard to find piece.

Weren't the tie downs different between the military and civilian as well?

Yes, T-3 has four down each side, T-3C has three. T-3C also has stake pockets on the inside of the bed.
If my wife's health was where I could leave her alone, I'd go get this one for my CJ3B, looks like it's in good shape and that's a great price. I sold a really nice one a few years ago, should have kept it!
