Composite tail light brackets

Post by zoro » Mon Apr 12, 2021 10:59 am

I have a 1966 M416 and it has the original tail light brackets for the 1960's era lights. Unfortunately my trailer has the modern composite lights and the 1960's brackets put the composite lights down too low. Ran into a guy with either an A1 or an A2 built in the early 80's and noticed his tail light brackets put his composite lights up much higher than mine.

Any idea where to get those brackets? If not, any idea what brackets might work for me? I do a lot of off-HWY driving with my M416 and I'd like to get my tail lights up just a little bit higher.

Go here, read this....... viewtopic.php?f=18&t=321294

Download the M416 trailer TM from the G838 Board....it's free. You can then see the M416A1 tail light brackets and either make them yourself or try the MV dealers.... the relevant part numbers are listed in the post below.

Found the part #'s

Part No. 11625310-1 NIIN 5340-01-244-5890 (Left-hand side)
Part No. 11625310-2 NIIN 5340-01-166-0783 (Right-hand side)

Any MV dealers you'd recommend?

Zoro,
they are not going to be easy to find. The trailers that used these brackets were M416A1s. These were the last batch of the M416-series trailers and were delivered during 1978 to 1979 and they saw very little usage. When the M151s were phased out,, the trailers were sold off by the DRMO and the ones I saw were in near-mint condition. I can't say I've seen any "scrap" ones anywhere.

It would be a rare stroke of luck if you found someone who was converting an M416A1 back to a standard M416 or an MBT/T-3 but you could wait forever before that happens.

Put the message out on here, on the G838 and on Steel Soldiers and see what turns up. Otherwise, find someone who can cut and bend 1/4" steel and get them made.

If you need dimensions and pictures, let me know.
