Military/Civvy trailer weight?

Post by Steve Webb » Sat Oct 03, 2020 5:36 pm

A little trouble with finding correct weights for both trailers. I see the military was 1,050 lbs gross which I have found several places when checking. I only found one place for the civvy saying it is 1,485 lbs. Doesn't make sense to me since it did not have shocks, parking brake or brakes even though not a whole lot of weight should be less. Any clarity is appreciated. The world war Bantams and post war Bantams.

Military gross is for off road use. Civvy gross is for on road use. Military gross on road is also in the neighborhood of 1485 (hence the ¼ ton designation).

I wish we could delete. I wasn't even thinking right. Empty trailer weight was what I was looking for and just in a hurry. In Florida trailers under 2,000 lbs do not need a title just registration and no insurance or a notarized bill of sale. Need a Homer Simpson Doh!

What makes the BT-3C lighter? Subtract shocks and brackets, brake components, and lighter weight hitch parts, and you will likely have that 50 lb, empty difference.

I didn't catch it if you did. :?: :?: :?:

Lack of combat wheels would likely skim a few pounds also.

In Texas we don't need a title if the gross is under 4000#. If you want to register as a Historic Military Vehicle then you need to title.

Got it weighed on certified scale today and registered and tagged :D . It weighed 540 lbs. My tires were probably a little bigger than factory and I extended and beefed up hitch plus some extra bracing and a solid floor on top of original floor and angle iron inside bed so the 500 +/- will always be close.
