M416 trailer. Have prices gone crazy?
I've had one or two and thought a parade ready or reenactor grade trailer was in the $1,500 range. But lately it seems that's the asking price for rough and needy of full restoration.
Here's an example:

I can't tell from thew photos that it even has the lunette and I know the tail lights are wrong.
What's the value of a nice presentable ade 416 if this is the case?

It is actually a very nice trailer, maybe they changed the photos.

that's a 416B1(less Wheels). would imagine it would go for a little more than a straight 416 in same condition

Yes, the B1 with the holes for the jerry can brackets in front of the fenders, wrong wheels, but has lift rings. Yes, maybe as much as 50 percent more than a standard 416 . . . but, still . . . $1,800 for a project trailer seems a surprise to me.

The trailer pictured looked very nice. However better deals can be found if one is patient. Now as far as pricing and condition goes that’s the times and the rule of supply and demand.
Many trailers have been transitioned to having a tailgate. Some of those modifications are far better than others.

Robert:
I own a 1965 Steven's M416-B1 complete. That's to include the correct wheels and a spare to boot. At the present time the trailer has civilian tires. I have owned the trailer for the past 2 years without restoring it. It has been siting at my parents yard since I hauled it from Colorado. The good, it has only surface rust and not cancer any where. The bad...it has a very nicely done tailgate. It does not have the correct M416 safety chains. You can easily purchase those on eBay. I have seen them quite often there for around $60. PM me or email me if you would be interested. The trailer is located in Souther Florida.

Re: M416 trailer. Have prices gone crazy?
I'm always looking. Got two Ben Hur's I'm working on now to go behind the G506 Chevy. I drag a .50 cal around on a MBT frame and shooting platform behind the GPW. The 416 came up on a municipal auction site and I thought I was the only one that had an inkling it was military. When the price hit $1,800 I just had to poast questioning prices. The B1 variant seemed to address the high price for a project trailer. Now, it seems that $1,800 for a project 416B1 is the new market price as that is what the forum member who posted his trailer photos with the cut tailgate and no chains wants for his.
But, I'm always a sucker for a bargain.

That sounds about right for a M416B1 in that condition. I picked up a B1 a few years back in worse condition after the Border Patrol abused it for about $1500.00. Since only 2000 were built, original B!s with tubs that have not been cut are getting harder and harder to find. Ken
