Hello
Can any of you owners of original Gemco trailers tell me which manufacturer made your reflectors please?

regards Nick

My 1945 Gemco G529 trailer came with all 4 Grote oval reflector bezels with Grotelite 100 lenses. The bezels and backs are OD on the back with the number B161059A ink printed in black.

Most will not accept oval reflectors as possibly being original. But who knows!

Hello Jeff
Thank you very much for your response. Hopefully some other Gemco owners will chip in with what they have. But for now Oval Grotes will be good enough for me

Bill Hollinger had the most complete Gemco I ever saw, right down to the USA number on the rear frame he recovered prior to painting. It has ROUND bezels.

The second pic, if you look at the right bezel, you can see that the paint is different in EXACTLY where a ROUND bezel would ha protected it....and the oval ones do not match the paint of the rear panel at all.

In the third pic, the paint on the bezel and rear panel have exactly the same color/patina and they are ROUND:

ROUND GROTE, ROUND ARROW, or ROUND CORCORAN BROWN WITH Grotelite100 Lens are the most likely.

Mine came with oval CB bezels. I couldn't say if they were original. I can't make out the reflector. I'd need to go and look at it.

CB is what you should go with until others with un restored GEMCOs post pics and ID their bezel mfgers. Others may be possible, but if a few could be checked out, that would be a great help.

Of the 45 GEMCOs in my data base, THREE have reported the reflector inserts as GROTELITE 100s and one of those reported C-B bezels, the others were not reported to me.

My reflectors are marked GROTE 4005 at the top, and SAE A 75 dot at the bottom.

Hey Paul
Thanks for your response. Can I ask you a) what is written on the metal rims? b) Are all four the same?

Nick,
Corcoran brown around the top. I'll have to go and have a look tomorrow at the bottom. I believe all 4 are the same but I'll check.

Hey Paul
Would you also check if you don't mind, if they are round or oval bezels please?

Always wondered what the timeline for these two bezel markings was:

NO. 100

No. 100

Hey Cripp thanks for that. :) Hello Chuck
That's another good question as to dating the reflectors. I also wonder about the different factory addresses on the Grotes.
