New NDT tires, which tubes? (M416)

Post by sixdoubleseven » Thu Jul 05, 2018 11:01 am

Looking for a little wheel assistance.

I just received a new set of Firestone/Coker NDTs for my M416. What tubes should I be looking for? When I ordered the tires Summit recommended a couple dif types as well as flaps at checkout. Is Summit the best place to find them?

Thanks

M-416 used 7.00X16 NDCC (rounded edges) . Flaps are not used nor needed.
The Tubes are 7.00-16 (K-16) and they must have the TR-15 short stem and not those bendable 3 or 4" truck stems.

Great info. Thank you. Would this tube work? I’ll be towing the trailer approximately 150 Miles (300 rt) and want to make sure I’m using the right equipment.

I could also ask one of the local/national tire chains to order something for me.

It's a bit small , but the problem here is that it is a farm tire, and farm tires have the stem in the wrong location. Try O'Reillys or Advance Auto for a 7.00 X 16 light truck or Passenger Car with TR-15 Stem.

I would call Coker Tire or Wade Wallace Tires.

Ben, offset valvestem or centered valvestem?

Didn't have luck at the local auto parts stores.

Does this look like a good fit for the tire on an M416?

They are designed for use on Radial Tires. Some Radial Inner Tubes are marked for use in Radial Tires only, and some are marked for use in both. I do not know what the differences are. Am sure Joe Friday can explain.

Here is a Firestone tube 552-046 It is for radial or bias tires and the stem is TR 15CW 7.00R/ 7.50R1 16LT They are on my 3a and have the tractor stem. I made the mistake of the longer stems and they get torn up at the base leaving the rim and ruined.

Steve, could you please explain how they get ruined? Are they getting caught on things?

Hello Six,

If you ordered the size tire that Ben Dover said should be on your type trailer, M-416 used 7.00X16 NDCC (rounded edges)
this guy on ebay appears to have the proper tube that Ben described.
(I bought my MB/GPW tubes from him last year, they were made in S. Korea and were auto/road rated, very nice quality)

You could contact him to get any further specifics on country of origin.

South Korea = Good
China or India = Bad

It has been a long time but something to do with the way the stem goes through the rim hole. They got cut/worn and leaked. I think they were skinny and moved around too much. The ones I mentioned now have not had any leakage.
