So I drove my A1 around the block on a maiden voyage. I got the the loud knock coming from the right front axle. Thanks to all who posted about similar experiences. I have a CV joint, and bearings on the way. Does anybody know where I can find the Adjusting Nut Lock. The manuals suggest discarding the old one.
BTW thanks to Radar4xfour. That man is a good soul.
