M422A1 markings

Post by michaelg » Sat Feb 26, 2022 8:38 am

Buying a M422A1 that has nice markings but will want to change to a 1st MARDIV mite as in the unit I served with. Anyone know where to get the correct stencils. Thanks

I made mine myself because I couldn't find and for the 2nd Marine Division. It was actually pretty easy. I just did it in layers.

That looks really good.

I like that Mite. USMC vehicles are my favorite.

Growing up at Camp Lejeune, we saw a lot of markings like that.

I marked it after my son's unit. He was at Lejeune.

I got my stencils from Rick Larsen, telephone 413-269-0059, email: rick@militarystencils.com, website : www.militarystencils.com, He advertises in the MVPA magazine. They were easy to use and I believe are the correct font and can be sized to your needs. Good guy to work with as well. Was a little difficult to find the right color spray paint.

Unfortunately, the Rick Larson website and phone contact are shut down.

I used Federal Standard paint color number 23538. From the research I did it what was listed as the correct color and if not available use the old Caterpillar yellow. Got a spray can from LVP Powder and Paints. www.lvppaints.com

As in previous post, Deltateamdecals.com. Just ordered all my paint mask stencils from Dave, and he was really good to work with. Replied promptly and is doing a great job for me. Sad that Rick Larsen is closed, but Dave is picking up the slack. With the stencils I'll be putting the finishing touches on my MM restoration project.
