Windshield M422A1 vs. M38A1

Post by Zottelbock69 » Tue Dec 29, 2020 9:53 pm

Hi to all.

The last part of the restoration of my M422A1 has started. I found out that my windshield and the 2 spares I got, are from the M38A1.

Has anyone photos of the correct windshield, especially from the position of the screw holes of the 2 bumpers? Are the bumpers the same and asymmetrical as found on the M38A1 windscreen? Please show photos of details of anything that might be important to convert the windscreen to the correct M422A1 style.

Thanks for your help in advance and best regards, Guido

Guido, I can get a picture today with measurements. The M38A1 windshield has the stand offs that straddle the wiper pivots. I've actually seen more M170 windshields on Mites than M38A1s. Why that is, I have no clue.

Bill,

in my understanding, this looks like the right stuff:
viewtopic.php?t=166441
The stand offs seem to be in the right position.

Are the brackets in the upper corners correct or are they used only for the winterization kit?
In the middle of the upper part is no hole, no double metal sheet and the only loop is offset to the left, is this correct?
If yes how do you fix the windshield to the hood?
I think that the 2 holes on the right side are for the bracket of the snorkel, are there also 2 holes on the left side?

Thanks for your help in advance and best regards, Guido
