Try looking on the right side of the rear bumper. Sand slowly and with very fine wet/dry sand paper. I say again, go slow!!! ;)

My Mite is #2596, no hood #. Title says it's a 1966. I know that's wrong. I got it from a retiring Offutt Airman in 1981 who said he dug it out of a creek in the Philippines. Said he paid three bucks to clear the red tape and brought it back stateside to rebuild it.

I seen a video with a plate stamped 422 sn 1275. in the back was a poster with m422 a1 on it. It is a nice looking jeep. It looks like a 422 to me.

I have 2 m422a1 mighty mites, neither have original motors though. The one that has a data plate is serial #3314 with hood #309869. The other one does not have a data plate, but has a hood and bumper #13141 which I don’t think is the original number.

Glad to see this post is still going! I recently acquired an MM last year and am starting the restoration. It is an M422A1, the serial number is 2944 and the Marine Corps number is 309302. I acquired it from a fellow who's father in law had acquired it at a state auction around 1968. He actually picked up four of them. Unfortunately, he brought them home, then parked them and never touched them again until he died in 2012. The family member thought he'd restore it, but never touched it. I found out about it and made an offer......and he took it. It is unmolested and virtually all original, other than a few minor items missing, such as the seats!!! But, engine is seized, so I know there's work there. The rest of it seems to be OK and all work. Now to start getting parts and doing the repairs/refurbishment. :?
