WTB NOS Coil kit

Post by m270mlrs2 » Wed Nov 03, 2021 11:49 am

Good afternoon I am looking to buy a NOS coil kit for my M151a2 with the electronic ignition. Let me know what you have and thanks again.

NOS is going to be a really tough find and if you do find it it is going to be real expensive.

I was contacted about the coil he has 1 NOS Prestolite and 1NOS coil with the black label about 40.00 for the Prestolite . Is the Prestolite better than the other or are they about the same? Thanks for any info

There is nothing wrong with the Prestolite module except the potting material degrades and melts out of them. I have several NOS ones and they are all goo, still in the bags. If you can find something that will clean that mess up without hurting the electronics then you can repot the unit with modern potting material and it will last you forever. 40.00 is a fair price IF it is all in one piece but be aware that they all melt out eventually and they make a real mess of the distributor when it happens. And done the stuff melts out the unit generally burns out. Be very wary of claims of NOS coils since they are very hard to find and there are a hundred Chinese knockoffs for every original.

Good morning thanks for the information. I must have been tired when I posted last night, but he wants 40.00 more for the Prestolite then the other one and you are right about not being cheap.
