Half the boxes are not there to populate, ie hood numer/data plate etc.
@steviem That's a work in progress (WIP)
Thanks Yves, steviem and the others who are taking part in this.
I'll be uploading some changes to the Add page shortly (today) and the Edit should follow soon after.
I'm adding a link to this forum topic on the front page of the app.

Have uploaded a few updates including some of the remaining data fields in Add/Edit
and the link on the front page. Continuing with the remaining data fields...

Thanks for these nice improvements and for the cool photo of the G503 Hat in Cockpit of a Lockheed U-2 at Altitude  !

I've remarked that the vehicle model drop down menu does no longer offer the GPA choice.
I guess it is a deliberate choice to restrict de DB to WWII wartime AND only G503 models.
Why not? It's a choice that would simplify the previously suggested help information for the new users.

As the hood # is a very discussed and researched information, could you add also a drop down menu with for example "original", "best guess" and "missing".
This input box should allow the entry of U.S., Canadian, British, Australian formats.

DoD is still missing in that form version  .

Thanks for that nice and clear page format!

The models are contained in a database table linked via an ID. It looks like GPA was never an option
in that table. Why? I don't know :D We probably just didn't think about it as an option at the time.
I see no reason not to include it from here on out. If Ron doesn't have any objections, I'll add it.

Sounds good. What are the U.S., Canadian, British, Australian formats?

GPA is now an option in the Models dropdown.

Hood numbers:
U.S. : always starting with 20 followed by 5 to 6 digits - option trailing -S for suppressed/radio jeeps.
Leading U.S.A. or USA or W allowed

British: M followed by 6 to 7 digits
Canadian: CM followed by 6 to 7 digits (census # YYnnnnn where YY = last two digits of year))
Australian : 6 digits starting with 1 (starting with 2 would be post war- Ian Fawbert could confirm?)

I have made an update to include DOD and acquisition dates. Let me know if you find any issues.

That's excellent with the drop down menu to avoid any entry error due to the date format.
However I don't dare to complete a form and submit it.
Dave, from Australia, has entered his jeep data yesterday (Ford GPW 198640) and it looks OK.

Remarks/suggestions:
It seems that there is a random image on the right side when using the search function. That's cool !
What's also cool is that the Date of Acquisition year choice is starting with the year 1940 and not 2021.

Regarding the "Mystery Code" in the Make Model data plate field (sill missing), I would use also a drop box to limit the choice to :
Blank, ORD, 4X4, 1/4-T, 1/4T, Serial, Unknown, BRT (Willys)

Data entry, hood number : no drop down menu with original, unknown, guessed..

Questions:
Regarding the email to be entered and not displayed, will you add a button to contact the owner via a short form ?
How many images can be uploaded? It would be nice to allow the upload of the jeep, data plate, frame number and engine number.
What I don't see, is how to edit my own jeep data? I guess it's not yet implemented?

Thanks

Yes, that option is on the list to be reimplemented.

My intention is to limit the Serial Number application itself to one (1)
representative photo with the addition of an optional link to a photo gallery.
SN data management and hosting is one thing, photo hosting and management
is a completely different monster. Very different in terms of resource requirements.
A G503 photo hosting server tailored for these requirements with updated software
is on the short list for the G family of sites.

If you go to your jeeps page, an edit link should appear on the right.
A "My Jeeps" page is in the works that will list and provide edit links and other
options for all of your jeep entries.

Hi Ken,
Thank you for the additional information.
I don’t see how to edit my jeep data when I’m logged in.
Here is what I see.

The edit link on top right is related to the G503 user profile, not to the jeep.

Did you create a new user account manually in the new interface?

The automatic "owner" of the record in the new program, by default, is based on
the email address (which would be the username) and password
that was associated with the record in the old interface. If your email address
has changed since then, or you created a user manually, then it will not be
linked with those records. In this case, you can use the Username Recovery tool
in the Support section to see if you get more than one username associated with
your email address.

If your email has changed, we can manually associate your old records with
your new user account. I'll make a note to try make this information clear
on the user registration page and perhaps the home page.

No, I did not create a new user account in the new interface.
My s/n G503 account is the original created years ago.

However, if it's important my G503 forum account has a different email.
But again I did not change my forum user account recently.

I have included this text on the Login and Register pages:
If you have previously entered a jeep in the database, then you already have a user account linked to that jeep.
The username is the email address (and the password is the password) that was entered for that jeep.
You must Log In using those credentials in order to edit your jeep information.

If you have any difficulty logging in, please use the support tools first
before requesting assistance in the forums.

Thanks Ken.
I will test that, using my email instead of my username.
I've seen the text on the register page, but right now the login page gives an error.
