Desperate for help

Post by Prague1996 » Mon May 06, 2024 1:51 am

Hi, I'm desperate and a little embarrassed to be making this post as I know its been asked a 1000 times!
I'm trying to find a hood number for my Ford GPW chassis #174149 DOD 01-14-44
I have already tried....
Contacting Tom on FB
I have tried searching on G503 SNdb (when I find a chassis # close to mine it bounces me back to the first page!)
I have tried posting on 'Military Vehicles by the Numbers' FB page
I have tried posting on 'G503/MB/GPW Restorers' FB page
Google search on chassis #
Happy to do the leg work but just don't know where else to go

Please help
Many thanks in advance

Hello,
Do not be desperate, sometimes it takes time for Tom to give a reply to inquiries. Perhaps he will even read your post here on G503
Unfortunately, I have no hood # reference close to your frame number as most of the jeeps within the series were sent to Australia where they received an ARN #.
The other data around your frame # found in the G503 database are only estimated or calculated hood numbers.

I have tested the former calculator available on the net (https://web.archive.org/web/20050313232 ... itary.com/) with my own frame number, but it gave a result quite different than the hood number proposed by Tom.

Be patient you will receive soon good guesstimates.

Yves

I forgot to confirm that there is a problem with the search function in the G503 s/n database.
It always return to the 1st page with MB 373440 … except with the GPW 174155 (Italy) which has almost no data in the record.
I cannot even retrieve my jeep data when I’m logged in with my email.
