Rear Panel Registration Number - Suppression "S"

Post by Leichtj » Wed Jun 26, 2024 8:58 am

I'm restoring an early model Ford GPW. It had the blue drab registration number on the rear panel (as well as on the hood). I was wondering if the Suppression "S" was just on the hood or also added to the rear panel registration marking.

Also, on the "S" indicator, the marking on the GPW when I bought it had the "S" following registration number on the hood, but I have also seen the "S" located on cowling. Does anyone know where the "S" was typically added at the ford factory?

Thanks,
Josh
