Re: Help. Number of jeeps on different units
Hi,
The information you seek is located in the Tables of Organization (TO) of an armored division. These are extensive documents which list all the men and officers of a unit as well as every kind of equipment and weapon belonging to the unit. On a quick web search, I found this site:
https://www.warandtactics.com/smf/toe-w ... sion-toes/
I am not affiliated with the site or the poster, and do not know how accurate his posting is. But he describes the numbers of the TO's you need and writes out the weapons and vehicles in each of the units in 1945. There were several versions of TO's published in WWII, updated at various times. You would be looking for the 1942-dated TO's of the units to find the specific information you seek. There were earlier ones written, but all deploying units in 1942 were deployed on the updated 1942 TO's which were not fully published until early 1943. Keep this in mind- if anything, there were fewer jeeps in the 1942 TO's. All the late war TO's I have read added vehicles due to the inadequacy of motor transport in the earlier TO's.
Good luck with your research,
John K. Seidts

They are actually called TOE; Tables of Organization and Equipment. And still are. Google them and you will see.

Not sure if this is the right division/regiment you are looking for but here is a link to the 1st. Armored Regiment that I found. In WWII there were numerous '1st Armored Regiments/Divisions. The U.S., The British and the Australians all at some point in time had their '1st' Armored in Africa.
