FAV seat question

Post by dcartledge » Fri Apr 24, 2020 10:53 am

Looking for a suitable replacement for the early FAV seat.

Would a low back fiberglass shell be the way to go?

Thanks for any info - of course, original seats would be more desirable if there are any out there.

OK - I’ve looked at what’s out there and nothing looks like the square shaped seat that I can find. The ones that approximate the shape are really narrow.

Anyone have an old original seat? I may have to make some....

MASTERCRAFT MADE THE OIRIGNAL SEATS. But their new model of that seat has a 'headrest' on it....they say they will refurbish the original seats if you can find them.....Until I learned that I was going todo a replacements.....now I'm replacing the damaged tubing on the seat frame (some rust) and then will send the frames off to them for reupholstering….
Other thought - buy their seat with the head rest - carefully remove the headrest frame and redo the seat and reinstall.....
BTW - how you doing on the wiring harness? Mine was civilianized....I bought a set of the original tail and head and signal light buckets (G.I.) and an original M35 front wiring harness and a rear M1515 wiring harness to redo the lights...….I figured the M151 front harness was too short and all the wires would need to be lengthened to do the front lights (jeep is stub nosed compared to the FAV!!!! any wire that needs shortening can be cut at the plug end and resoldered with the rubber cap back on for the lights connections.... What are you doing????

My FAV was “civilianized” a lot. So I just made my own wiring harness using the package connectors where needed and hardwired otherwise.

I’m going with the Navy Seal (I’m not claiming to be one so don’t call senior Chief Shipley on me please) motif to “cover” some of the anomalies ‘cause we know how industrious Seals are.

I’m looking at Gamma Goat seats to replicate as best I can the original “look”

Is it the master craft “nomad” seat model?

yep - that's it...….ya know they were nice enough o say they would recover my seats.....they might take the headrest off and send you the modified non-headrest seat - you ought to check - they might get you back to 'orignal'!!!!!
