Re: M60 mount question
How does and what is the pintle socket that the M60 mount fits in - how does it mount to the dash of the FAV???? What type of socket is it - there are a few varieties I think!!!??? Thanks -

Re: M60 mount question
That pintle socket is from a Naval Mk16 Weapons Mount. I doubt the FAV would have used the old WWII Browning MG Dash Mount, those likely long out of the system,.
The M60 Pintle I do have, it has the spring loaded bar underneath to lock the elevation function as needed.

Re: M60 mount question
Maybe this is the mount for the M60 on the dash....? Navy so would fit close to dash and the mount you showed of the M60 in the first picture would fit......I need the M60 mount in you picture and the AN/KAS dash mount...

Re: M60 mount question
The photos I’ve seen show the riser going thru the hood - most likely to the floor. I fabricated a riser out of 2-1/2” ID rigid conduit screwed into a coupler welded to a plate and bolted outside the passenger side to the bottom of the side basket.
Seems to work ok - I cut the height down to where the gun barrel is just above the LVOSS launcher tubes.
I used the platform mount shown in the pic in the post above.
IMO the dash is not strong enough to hold the mount and the gun would extend too far into the passenger seat to be used.
I suppose a swing arm mount could be used but wat expensive for what I’m after...

Re: M60 mount question
Adding, I bought one of the repro aluminum cups of eBay - seems ok but it is not GI by ant stretch...
If you use the platform mount you will also need the adapter to transition to the vehicle mount.
The MK 16 is used on top for the M2 or whatever you want to put up there.

Re: M60 mount question
Interesting! So you put the M60 outside the cockpit - mounted into the basket! See, I have two FAVs – one with baskets and the other without…..five serial numbers apart and both with DOE Nevada Test Site stickers on the shifter housing! The one without baskets never had them – there is no welding on the 4130 frame showing where it was cut or ground off – so good educated guess it never got the baskets – perhaps because it never made it to a operational unit and remained in “Test Bed” status for some years until Doe or Wackenhut security contractors got ahold of it…..must have been a blast (no pun intended) driving that on all the dirt roads in the Nevada test Site….stirring up all the ‘special’ dust!!!! Lol
I get the Mk16 roof mount – which I see was mounted to a rectangular frame that bolts to the roof…..the Mk16 does not attach to the roof itself but has that frame spacer is in between it and the roof. I’ll eventually put a semi Ma Deuce up there but the cost of the Mk16 is stopping me right now…BMG is the really really high priced spread!!!! Hoping to find one cheaper but unlikely I guess….I could duplicate the Mk16 for cheap money in the shop – may do that!
Please send me some pictures of your M60 mount set up -I may try and duplicate that – sounds like a better solution than trying to cobble something on the dash!
I did find the two smoke grenade launchers after discussing the ones with the guy in California that thought they were made out of platinum with diamond studs!!!! My basketless FAV does not have the launcher mount plate but I bought one and will weld it on this weekend.
Sandblasted all the frame rust and primed everything on Sunday – will paint the frame tomorrow or Thursday 30277 tan (the “686” CARC substitute). Start bolting things back on next week – gets the new 200 hp 2011cc engine next week too!
