Semi butchered FAV

Post by Maddogz » Sun Jun 20, 2021 5:24 pm

Bought this from a movie prop company. They were modifying it to look more like a DPV and figured the expense and work wasn't worth the return. Pretty stripped but had to get it, when would be the next time I ran across one. No transmission or working engine. No ownership or data plate. Did chenowth put their own vin on it somewhere(heard they did)?

The Chenowth frame number plate is on the lower frame tube by the left hand battery tray behind the drivers seat.

I have a lot of detail photos taken from the one at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio if they would be of any help.

Great find!

Looks like 1649 to me. Anyone know if that number would have matched or partial matched the data plate? Like the data plate would have been 001649? Or anyway to find out any other info on it. Thanks guys.

I have hundreds of photos of the Chenowth FAVs I bought at auction 18 months ago....whatever you need photo’d - let me know - probably already have it. I also may have some spare parts and certainly have info on the engines and transmission. There is a guy that doesn't post often that is a key resource. I also have the manual if you want it - not very informative but interesting. Seems Chenowth put his part numbers on all the off-the-shelf stuff he bolted onto the frames!!! So outsourcing spares is an issue.

interesting vertical instrument panel and what kind of engine is that - doesn't look like a standard VW 2011cc stroker!?

Honestly, I have no idea. It was out in the parking lot (with some reference to it being owned by the Navy ).
