We had another enjoyable get together of 11 members of the TNMVPA with a super meal followed by an informal meeting. The focus of the discussion was upcoming events and which venues to settle upon to build membership and steer towards sponsoring a larger, regional event in the future.

The group committed to supporting vehicle displays at the upcoming Tennessee Military Collectors Association collectors show in Nashville on April 19-20. We will sponsor a TNMVPA membership table in the show and vehicle displays just outside, weather permitting. http://www.tmcaonline.org/events.htm

We also plan on supporting the 2nd Annual Patriot Half Marathon 2020 on Saturday March 14. We aim to increase the number of vehicles attending and host a swap meet.

Plans also include an MVPA event in the Nashville area either independently or in conjunction with another show.

Minutes from the 2 May 2019 Monthly Meeting of the TNMVPA

The meeting was held at the Hickory Falls Restaurant, Smyrna, TN. The club Vice-President, Richard Hanson, called the meeting to order at 1830 hours. In attendance were 8 members of the club.

Richard Wright distributed the newly developed club newsletter, the “Grease Pit” and discussed the contents. Club members agreed that the letter would be published at least 5 times annually, based on the time availability of Richard. Richard encouraged ALL members to submit finished articles and pictures for publication in the news letter. Articles should be submitted in these areas as a minimum; technical aspects or restoration and maintenance, current restorations with pictures, before and after pics, member spotlight, lessons learned, vehicle registration concerns for TN, etc.

Several events were highlighted from the newsletter. The following were emphasized for support;

May 18 Mission BBQ, Murfreesburough
May 25 Cornerstone Church, Memorial Day service
June 2 Mr. Vosberg farm BBQ, Antioch

Richard Hanson referred members to the article in the newsletter regarding procedures for registering for and posting on the G503. Everyone was encouraged to begin posting there to encourage new members to find our club.

The meeting was adjourned around 2030 hours.

Meeting Minutes
1 Aug 2019

The TNMVPA group met again this month at the Smyrna Hickory Falls Restaurant to share new stories, discuss MV restoration and conduct our monthly meeting. Eleven members were present, and everyone was excited to hear the latest from those going to the Annual Convention in York, PA.

Our Vice President, Richard, reported that all tours for the convention are sold out. It appears to be one of the largest attended convention in many years and several TNMVPA members are planning on being there. The club has one table for everyone to use as a staging area and Dan has several tables as well.

Richard reported he will take Mr. Ground's GPW to the Atlanta Concourse d' Elegance (19-20 October) for display. The event will be at the Tyler Perry Studios and should be a well-attended venue. All are encouraged to bring a vehicle for one or both days. The GAMVPA group is planning on attending this event. The website address is: https://atlantaconcours.org/

We are scheduling another Club Workday for anyone who wants to work on their MV at Tim’s acreage. Details to follow as we approach the day. Please let Tim know if you plan on attending.

The McMinnville chapters of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars are hosting the Second Annual Patriot Half Marathon on Saturday 14 March 2020. Our group has been asked to sponsor an MV event. We will try and coordinate for 15-20 military vehicles to attend. We’ll look at using this as our foray back into sponsoring MV events and working out the details and work required to move to a bigger venue.

The group voted on moving the meeting location to the Mission BBQ in Murfreesboro beginning with the November meeting. The meeting location is 2314 Medical Center Parkway, Murfreesboro, TN. See you there.
