Looking to buy a 1967 M151.

Post by mcat2197 » Mon Apr 19, 2021 8:00 am

Hi, this is my first post. I'm looking to make an offer on a 67 M151. It's been sitting outside for several years and ran three years ago. The body is in good shape. Not Cut. Very little rust except for hood where the cross support is and rockers where it turns up to the dash. Battery compartment has been repaired either rusted through or eaten by acid. Brakes need complete redo. Tires reasonable. There is a fair amount of body fill around the vehicle. Don't know if it's covering old rust through or just dents. This is complete with seats, tank, motor, tires. Is there any way to put a value on this. And is it worth putting money into it? I think I can get it for 5K. Any thought please. Please see pics. Thanks

5,000 is way too much for that vehicle in that condition. If you say there is bondo scattered all over you definitely need to get under it and see what the underbody looks like. I am guessing you will not like what you see. It has an A2 windshield with the hinge pins replaced with smaller bolts it looks like, It has an A2 steering wheel probably on an A1 column so that will not be a correct fit and it has an A2 grill. And just because it ran three years ago does not mean the engine is not locked up from rust due to condensation. And keep in mind that this is a unibody vehicle so no frame, the body and underbody IS the structure of the vehicle. Is it worth putting money into? Only you can answer that question, CMD makes a lot of the body panels you will need, how are your welding and body skills? And does it have a title! No title means BIG problems in most places anymore.

Thank You so much sir. I was on the fence already. This confirms my fears. The mismatched parts are the kicker. Should have known. This guy is a screwball. When I went back for a second look, he had taken the data plate off to the left of the column. Caught him on it. Should have realized right then. You just saved me some cash!

Unless you are convinced not to go forward ,
I would take a closer look at things.
