M151A1 purchase thoughts
Hi all,
I have the opportunity to purchase a later ('67 or 69 I think) M151A1. It has a fording kit, radio set, what looks to be original data plates, etc., Holley carb, rifle holders, appears to be uncut, and no real rust that I can see. It's not really a restored vehicle, but it seems to be in pretty good shape. It's close enough that I can pick it up fairly easily, and I think that the owner is an honest broker.
The gentleman is proud of his stuff, and is asking $22,500. Do you all think this is a reasonable price? I'll tinker with it, play with it, and maybe haul someone around in a parade now and then. I would prefer an A2 because we still had them when I was in Germany in the late 80s. But this A1 has all the bells and whistles.
Thanks for helping a old newbie out.
George

A lot of money for a 151!
Has to be Primo for that price.
Would want a very close inspection of the vehicle especially the body.
Just some thoughts.

That Holley carb is far from original( they were original on 1959-1962 straight 151's) and you cannot get parts to rebuild it so plan on another 350.00-400.00 for another carb if that one goes bad. And I don,t Think there is one out there worth that much short of someone finding the holy grail original 1959 or a brand new, hidden away A1 or A2 with zero miles on it never driven, brand new still covered with a good tarp.

22K is way too much for a pre 70's M151. I have one I will sell for half of that.

quite possibly the highest asking price i have ever heard of for an M151. based on your description, i see no justification for that amount.

I suspect he wants to tell his wife:
"I offered it up for sale and no one would buy it"
8-14K is the norm I have seen for a restored or original excellent condition MUTT unless it hit auction fever.
