Help with id of MUTT

Post by dastardlydd » Wed Mar 23, 2016 5:18 pm

Hi I'm new to the forum and new to MUTTs. Dad had a GpW growing up and now I'm keen to get a new toy

I was wondering if anyone could have a look at this and see what you think it is

Ps. Annoyingly the photos won't work on an iPhone. Flash.

Any input would be appreciated. I'm in Melbourne Australia so parts aren't that easy to get here but keen to try

If I were you, I'd have a quick trip to the G838 board and post the same question there. Recently there have been several postings by Oz-based owners of VietNam imported M151 vehicles. I'm sure they will give you the lowdown on the condition of their vehicles when first purchased.

I never cease to be amazed at the skill and ingenuity of the Vietnamese when it comes to vehicles. Putting that engine in there and making it look and fit like it belongs there! I wonder how it is fitted to the transmission? The tires look like the same ones they were using when I was there in 1970! I can pretty much guarantee you the vehicle has been rebuilt from the ground up as far as bodywork goes so it would be prudent to get good photos of the underneath of it. But in saying that their bodywork is as amazing as the mechanical skills. Like Ken said it might pay to go to the g838 and contact a couple of the Australian owners.
