Pilot Bearing quick fix

As I was inspecting parts on the mule project I am working on, I noticed that the pilot bearing was badly worn and cracked. I pressed the bronze bushing out of the carrier so I could get come measurements.
I looked at the McMaster-Carr on-line catalog and found a listing for an oil-embedded bronze sleeve bearing with an ID of 5/8" and an OD of 13/16" that was 1 " long. MC part number is 6391K255, price is $3.72. I lightly polished the OD with some fine emery paper, and the bearing easily pressed into the carrier. I did have to face off the extra length and lightly bore the ID.
Finished product! For less than $4.00 and about 20 minutes of time, I have a new pilot bearing!
