Jut a suggestion, if one were to use 1/4" stock for the blanking plate and a heavier washer under the bolt head, no need to take the time to cut the bolts shorter. Same amount of work to make the plates regardless of the thickness.
Looks like a great mod btw!
Maybe Chuck or John or somebody should consider making up a kit; pump, switch, wiring, blanking plate, fuel line and fittings...

Just finished another very successful electric fuel pump conversion. I did go to a thicker block-off plate so I can use the unmodified original bolts. I think this makes 7 conversions that I have done so far.

Decided to install an electric pump on my mule today, starts and runs much better. I think this is #8.

I've been wanting to do this conversion for a year now and decided to do it last week. After gathering up all the right fittings, tubing and tubing bending tool at harbor freight, I went ahead and took a few evenings to do. It took a few pieces to tubing to make it look original. And yes it sure starts better. One or two cranks and the mule fires off. Seams like with the old fuel pump setup there's a fine line between not starting because of no gas to not starting because its flooded. Thanks Chuck for the inspiration. Will paint the pump when I get time.

FYI, John Emery has added a machined aluminum fuel pump block-off plate to his inventory. Looks like the Airtex E8251 electric pump is about $50.00 now.
