Great work!

I have to say that sump being welded to the frame is a first for me! There are some reproductions out there now, most of the originals tend to be swiss cheese

I enjoy seeing the progress, even though I'm putting it back together, looking at your photos brings me back to those awesome memories of taking it apart. Enjoy it! 8)

Thanks peep!

So as far as I can tell, the tag on the trans indicates it was rebuilt in North French Africa, but what is "NET"?

Took my filterette off for cleaning and painting, and a mysterious yellow fluid was leaking out of the back. It seems it was punctured at some point, and the layer of crud underneath had actually prevented it from leaking out untill now. What's inside those things?

Be careful of leaking capacitors - don't get any on your skin - PCB's I believe.

Sorry, I never replied before. I see in your photo now that the oil line has a flex.

I always forget to take a before picture. She cleaned up quiet nice. I used Quiksteel metal repair epoxy on the hole. Also checked for continuity and everything seems fine.

Great,
Thanks alot for posting your photos.
It looks like a friction fit covered version. Barrie, I bet that cover you had, up to of late would have fit. What do you think?
Mav, don't you have the cover? Was there any decals before you cleaned it?

No cover, no decals, and no markings that I can find.

Unless you're going to run an original radio, the filterette doesn't need to be hooked up and can be bypassed. I didn't want to risk leaking on my own, so I bypassed it and hid the wires behind it. Food for thought if you have any concerns about it springing a new leak in the future. Apparently a leak can be pretty corrosive to anything it touches.

Yeah that does look like it would have been the friction fit cover, which makes sense. They were used on the first part of the second contract GPWs, I think into late June/early July? [That doesn't mean all will have had them, but that some in that range would have from what I know  ]

Anyway it would be a Tobe Deutschmann model, but there aren't very common at all. Probably not the rarest filterette, but one of the hard ones to find for sure. One thing I wanted to try (because why not   ) would be to take a trashed Tobe Deutschmann cover made for the single screw, and cut that section out, weld in a plain flat section of sheet metal into the cover where you cut out the raised domed area for the screw, and see how it works as a replacement/stand in for the friction fit cover? The only thing I am not positive on, is how tightly it would fit. I mean the cover you need was tight enough to have a friction fit, not sure if they loosened it a hair for the screw models or not?

Cool, if the opportunity ever comes along to snag a cover I'll do it. Until then priority of work is to get the tub back in decent shape, get her running and stopping. Right now Im cleaning up some areas on the frame that need some love while I wait for the front hat channel kit. If all goes to plan, I'll get the old hat channel removed this week and utilize some local expertise in getting the new ones welded in this friday. I also plan on removing the wheels and getting the brakes overhauled. Ive already yanked the old lines and fittings.

Nice filterette! There are two types of the friction fit covers, I think the one you posted would be correct for "Bella", the other was used in April/early May and had a plain cover (no embossing) with a dataplate screwed on.
