New Body Tubs from India
Here's a few pictures of the new GPW tubs that are being made in India. They look promising. I wrote the maker, they will be priced close to what the MD Juan tubs are. The maker says all holes are cut with a laser , not drilled. I don't know what gauge sheet metal they are using. Has anybody here seen one in person ???

If i recall correctly, I think he mentionned using 16ga steel. But I don't know if its the whole thing, or only the floors in 16ga.

Re: New Body Tubs from India
Looks great, guess I shouldn't cut up that spare MB or GPW frame I picked up with some rust out spots just yet...
I have to ponder, what is the original "rake" back of the windshield angle?
When someone copies things like this it's usually from an original that may have had wear, such as the windshield being pulled on for 75 years, and although it looks fine, (actually beautiful) was the original more vertical?
A curiosity question rather than a critique.

Looks promising.
Original windshield pivot brackets are slotted which allow the windshield slope to be adjusted.

I believe W. Winget is referring to the rake of the OUTER frame, not the set of the INNER being able to move in and out...

Re: New Body Tubs from India
And that iis what I am referring to,
They Nomenclature is, (From the SNL)
Bracket, Windshield Pivot Assy (On the Cowl).
The others are,
Bracket, Windshield Swing Arm w/Stud
Bracket, Windshield adjusting Arm, w/BUSHING , assembly.
Chuck, if one is to speak Jeep components, best to do it like the Army dos it, that way we are all on the same page.

Re: New Body Tubs from India
I posted a response on facebook about these but cant find it to repost. It was and this is not to put them down as I welcome competition and especially in the area of jeep bodies where there has been not much development of anything for along time (bar Joes Motor Pool Panels which are good/better then MD Juan).
I guess I would liken this body to a school kid remembering/combining all years of schooling in 1 photo, instead of an album of different years and events.
It has features of a pure ford tub, yet other features of an ACM 1 or 2 tub. While some of these are holes, some are brackets. I haven't seen underneath to see what thats like.
If this is their first public effort, the refined and future versions should be very good... by the distant looks having not seen one in person.
Cheers,
Ian.

Re: New Body Tubs from India
Seeing is believing. I would not place expectations too high. Remember, even the MD Juan bodies can look perfect in photos. Be persistant with their contact and question details and dimensions.

Re: New Body Tubs from India
I have had a good look at this & I think this is way better than the best MD Juan effort, if they keep at it they can only get better, if nothing else it should make MDJ take notince that they are no longer the only game in town.

This thread has not been updated in quite some time.
Has there been any progress with availability of the Indian bodies and what is the quality like?

I don't see a cowl gasket installed, but a gap. The lack of agasket there could cause what you're seeing.W. Winget wrote: ↑Tue Jan 22, 2019 5:42 am................
