Re: mb 102550 build
Yesterday my buddy that is staying with me for a bit finally decided that he was over his C10 project and sold it. So now I have my full garage back! Spent the evening cleaning out the shop but have a decent amount of organizing to go... I'm going to hang plastic around the side he kept his truck to make a paint booth I can fit the tub and frame in when I'm ready and this weekend shoot a bunch of smalls.

Re: mb 102550 build
Painted a ton of smalls this weekend and put new studs in my tire carrier. The studs stuck out to far when I test fit them so I made spacers that are welded then smoothed out for strength

Re: mb 102550 build
Getting all my parts painted and stored away for later! Yesterday I primed my gas tank, windshield, and M31c legs and will hit them with paint today. I started to assemble parts that are dry and decided on my slat hood after going back and forth on it for awhile to keep the original holes for the longer windshield hold downs even tho I am using the later short type. I figured it looks like a "in the field change." Also! I ordered up 5 firestones and tubes! Can't wait to assemble them!

Re: mb 102550 build
Also if someone could help... what is the length of the radiator support bar? Mine was repaired at one point and I think it is a couple inches to long.
And I am looking for a good flat white paint that I can brush on for my star and circle. Has any body used house paint? I was told that was a possibility from the paint store I stopped by... I have 1shot lettering paint but there was way to much gloss in it

Re: mb 102550 build
Don't understand that after all that great work and paint job you would want to screw it up [JMO] with house paint and a brush
.
I think that flat white in a rattle can would look much better, now if your whole jeep was painted with a brush then a brushed on star would look great.
It's your jeep, do what ever turns you on.
Your jeep is looking really great, you do outstanding work, keep it up.

Radomonster, exemplary work, im envious of your skills. As for the white paint, as G.I. said a rattle can does the job, i used white primer on mine.

Re: mb 102550 build
My goal on this build is to make this jeep look like its been through war and that it has had field modifications along the way... sometimes a clean painted stencil looks to nice. I've seen a lot of odd shapes and stars with over-spray, I have also seen a few that were done with a brush because that's what they had.
I do plan on taking my time and making it look good, but I think the brush strokes done right look great especially with the yellow vascant paint which I am doing. I also plan on spraying blue drap factory numbers and then stenciling white numbers over those.
This is farrell fox's jeep and one of my favorites of all time and I love the way his was done. Also a few other examples...

Re: mb 102550 build
Decided to go with my original idea of brush painting my invasion star. I printed up a 20" star and glued it to some poster board and made a tool to hold a pencil and make my inner and outer ring 4" thick. After pencil drawing the star and ring I taped it off and used a course brush to apply flat white rust-oleum. Then put 3 coats of M5 vesicant paint that I got from Farrell Fox. Finished up late last night so I will take some good pics in the sunlight when I get home

Re: mb 102550 build
Here are a few more pics in some better light and while Im at it here are some pics of the M2 decon app I made a few years back that will be mounted on my fender. I found the correct style fire extinguisher awhile back made the correct type nozzle on the bottom by slicing an acorn nut then painted and distressed it. I found the data plate for it online but don't remember where.
