Thanks Mark for the info. I decided to do some research after reading your post found one thread/pic of a field added chart holder. Is this correct? Did they put these strap style holders on during a later war time refurb?

My socket and cradle came in the mail today for my M31c! Had to do a quick mock up to see how it looked. Time to weld on the arm brackets and finish her up. I also realized after getting it on the my head saver is to tall and could get shot so I'll need to shorten it up a bit.

Radomonster, it is possible that they could of done this as a field modification. As for the 30.cal, that is really impressive, looking forward to seeing the finished project, its looking good.

Over the weekend got I started working on my hood. welded the hinge and the stiffener in a stripped the paint. I also lowered my head saver so that it wasn't in line with the 1919a4 and then slapped my fenders on to check the fit of everything. A little more work on the hood I will be able to prime and paint it. I'm excited to get my star on there because I picked up some M5 vesicant paint from Farrell Fox last week!

Am I going crazy or do the holes for the sending unit look to be welded in 180* off? this is a new tank (but I've had it for 5 Years). From what I can tell in pics online is that its off... If this is the case I haven't put any gas to it so I am thinking weld up the holes Drill/tap new ones? Has anyone else run into this before?

I believe I have the sending unit pointing in the right direction. The box is the correct direction on top and the arm goes towards the drivers side into the deep part of the tank. Note the screw locations in the other pics

Today I welded up the holes for the sending unit then drilled and tapped holes in the correct location. After that I decided to cut up the aftermarket seat pan because I hated the way the cutouts lined up with the filler and unit. Over all I'm pretty happy with the outcome a little more work and they will be ready for paint.

Hey everyone! Went on a little vacation to Ireland and had a few things pop up but managed to get a few things done on the MB. I stripped down and welded a few holes on my fenders, hood, and a few other small parts then primed and painted them. Also yesterday I bead blasted a bunch of smalls so that I can get some paint on those this week.
