Great work! Can you post a close-up photo of how you welded in your front frame horns. I've got to replace mine and always on the look-out to how people do it. Thanks.

So yesterday when looking at my combat wheels I realized that one of my outer rims were bent pretty bad after someone had tried bolting them together clocked in the wrong position. I made a few tools to hammer them back flat, beat them a little and will sand and re-prime. I then took off the random welded on battery tray and cleaned up the slat tray mounts, tomorrow I will make the actual split trays and weld them in.

After all that was done I wanted to change it up and made a few "field mods" for the jeep. started on making a head saver, and made two racks to bolt on the rear wheel wells that fit three 30cal ammo cans each and I used some of my quick straps to hold them down... just need more ammo cans now.

here are the close ups of my frame horns... sorry I sprayed them black long ago it was all I had at the time. I cut the frame back as long as the new horns were. I cut the entire cross brace out and the shock mounts cleaned them up and re-welded them the correct location

Thanks for posting the photos of the horns. I can't tell from the pictures what type of cut you did to mate the horns to the original frame. Was it straight or angled? Thanks.

FYI....I too made my own wire cutter for my GPW. I designed it so that it was no taller than the height of the jeep top bows when in the upright position and the top mounted. Since I don't expect any piano-wire to be stretched across the roads I travel on, I felt that if it was too TALL, it might not make it into my garage.

Mine is a four-bolt install with a plate on the rear of the front bumper which avoided any drilling/welding and it can be removed in a flash if necessary.

Hummm I did this awhile ago but I believe I cut them at a slight angle gave them a good bevel then welded them up

I have been debating on how I was going to make my mounts today. I thought about making two plates with four bolts but I think I'm leaning on welding a top and bottom piece of flat and running a bolt through top to bottom behind the bumper. For the support legs I was thinking using round tube and flattening the ends and running bolts through the frame

Finished up the head saver this evening. Made two support legs and used the frame-to-grill holes so I didn't end up having to drill holes. After all that was done I decided to start re-pairing a windshield rifle mount that I picked up a few years ago cheap because it was BUBBA'd bad. I made a top plate then welded it on with a lot of extra filler rod so I'd have and easy time grinding the radius along the edge. After I get that cleaned up Im going to make the bent piece on the stock end.

Didn't get a chance to work on the jeep this weekend but went to a fun Halloween party with my lady and got to wear some of my collection and she wore her American Rec Cross motor corps uniform. But today it was back to business! I finished my rifle rack, made my split battery trays and sprayed my first bit of OD green! defiantly happy with the way it came out!

thank you so much! This is something that I've dreamed about since I was a young kid and a project that had to go on the back burner for few years. Its been a fun challenge with every part, doing research and not knowing anyone into the same thing this site and jeep draw have been gold for me. I end up saving 100s and 100s of pictures and use them by zooming to a 1:1 scale to take measurements.

I'm glad I started this build on G503 I was nervous at first of the jeep police, on the account of my jeep not being 100% correct but the support I have been getting has been awesome!

If I can ever help any of you out let me know I'd be glad to.

Happy Halloween! I have been working on the hood off and on for the last few days. The hinge was shot and the stiffener had been repaired like hell with bolts welded to them. I picked a good solid section past the repairs and cut/cleaned it. Today I made a new section but kept it one piece for strength and will still put the old cap over it. Also was able to save the original cage nuts.

Does anyone have a good pic on how the slat grill lube chart holder is? I know I need to make another piece like the one that is on there but there is another tab that is on the bottom and I can't tell if it has been cut or needs to meet up with the lower one.
