how about the guy who plants his foot on your blemish free Jeep bumper while feeding you the story of the WWII Jeeps discovered in the Great Lakes Training Center warehouse.

Sadly, they are all out there, but the good outweigh the bad.(most of the time). On the subject of "please keep off this vehicle" signs. My mate had his stolen off his jeep. :(

I guess one of my biggest pet hates is this. Maybe its like this in any hobby. But this hobby attracts people that like to talk and talk and talk but not listen or converse. A pleasant conversation and back and forth is part of what makes this hobby fun. This type of guy is a know it all, is the most interesting man in the world, rarely makes eye contact, and only loves the sound of his own voice. Hmm, my father in law fits this description.
If this is you, then sorry

Not me Rondo, but dont let your Father-in-law see this post. I know the type you are on about. I had a so-called mate like this, he knew so much about jeeps (or so he thought). Then he puts his fan on the wrong way round. Then he had the audacity to tell me and a good friend that ours were wrong. Thankfully he went off the scene, and we aint seen him since. (There is a God). :D

How about my son father-in-law, a former Major of the Special Forces and paratrooper, who was driving my jeep, shifting gears with a loud creaking noise.
And I don't tell you about the double clutching noise....
I was sick :) :)!

My pet hate - trying to finely adjust the forward brake shoes on the front wheel drums.
Even with the special small thin spanner the steering arm A-1712 gets in the way.
There are several things on the jeep that make me wonder whether the guys that designed it actually did any maintenance on it afterwards (outside in the cold and in the dark and the rain and the mud - such as wld have been field conditions).

Still, I have to love the little beast in spite of some hassles.

The backing plate existed prewar and was common on other than Jeep.Studebaker also used tat set up. It is not all that bad once you figure out a favorite wrench to grab. Not all wrench brands are created equal, some fit better than others.

Take your wrench and grind the box end down so it's narrower. Also needs to be an offset wrench :D
Works like a charm :!:

The looks you get from the 'shinny car' folks when you roll up to a car show. I've never understood why so many people at car shows have a dislike for MV.
Even got some snide comments from a few of them when I won a trophy at a show on Saturday...

I just told them, "Yeah, nobody ever owed their lives or their freedom to a hot rod," and walked away.

Lee,

At a quick glance your Trophy looks like it's giving the finger to all the shiny hot-rodders ?
If so, well done.

Nice one Lee, that trophy is well deserved. Another pet hate of mine happened yesterday. Really looking forward to this show, about to get the jeep out, and the heavens opened, it lasted all day long, the organisers had gone to a lot of trouble, it was a shame. Typical English weather. Still there is always next year. :x

My "pet peeve" is any and all Jeeps marked to the 101st or 82nd Airborne, if you didn't know any better you would think they won the war all by themselves, when in fact they played a very, very small part. Not to take away from the Airborne, but come on, use your imagination. I also can't understand why people put two or three machine guns, a Coco-Cola bottle opener, a tow bar and a desert cooling kit.....along with 50 musette bags and folding shovels.
