That would be a long list....

You can have a look at the pictures gathered by Tibor here:

We've named our Jeep "Peaches", my mother's nickname during the war years.

My jeep is "Aggie". The previous owner named it after his wife. :D

Name of my Jeep is "Sentimental Reasons" in honor of both my Mom and Dad. Hand painted by Skip Rains, military artist, formerly of Napa, Ca. Both of their photos are displayed in the Jeep, and I take them for a ride every weekend. Here's to absent loved one and friends on this June 6th, 2018 anniversary.

Would be neat to list out the names that were written down in those MVPA back-issues.

It's not based on anything original, but my wife's name is Jennette, the French spelling. I thought it was perfect for a GI to have painted, like for a Frech gal he met soon after the invasion. So, that is painted over the passenger side rear wheelwell.

Probably up to the unit commander to allow "nose art" or names on the jeeps. I have also heard that some units REQUIRED that if you put a name on it that it had to coincide with your company. I'm sure that wasn't too popular with many GIs though. Can you imagine sending home a pic to your wife whose name was Roberta..... of you and your jeep tagged with "Irene" just because you were in I Company? Try explaining that to her!

Mine was originally (and will stay) named « LIBBY », hand painted over the rear wheels.

No L company if I’m not mistaken?

To all,

Although not a jeep, my wife's uncle Bert Close was a member of a tank crew in World War 2. Here is a short history of the first tank crew he was a member of:

http://www.3ad.org/world-war-ii/world-war-ii-heroes/

Bert was in a total of five Sherman's by the time the war had ended. Bert has since past on, but he was a true veteran and very humble about his part in that war. There was only one "In The Mood" Sherman. He also stated that unit markings on the tank were not displayed in the outfit he was with, the Third Armored, I company.
