I cut down the reinforcement plate so it didn’t sit on the raised Ford script, figuring it won’t be seen
Drilled the holes for the carrier. There’s not much room for error due to the reinforcing strip in the inside of the rear panel. Luckily I got it right first time as I don’t have the skill or equipment to move holes!
As was suggested, I’ve decided not to fit the strap bracket at the moment. I don’t suppose it will ever get on there because if I change my mind I will probably have forgotten where I put it.
@Gbcygnet
Nice job!
Could you please post a picture taken from the rear side low enough to see how the F script appears under the jerrycan carrier.
Thanks.

Hi Zeph. Sorry about the holes but you can’t see them anymore now that the can is on :D
The weather is starting to turn here as well now but at least we haven’t had to deal with the terrible fires such as you have had there recently. I must admit I haven’t done many miles yet, I only go out when it’s warm and sunny and that doesn’t happen very often here! Just 310 miles on the clock now and 235 when I got it.
Good luck with the operation, I hope you will not be out of action too long. I’m sure you’ll be back to the Carryall before you should be :o

Hi Yves
Thank you.
I’ve taken a photo as best I can with it being in the garage.

Here is a photo I found on the net when I was looking for ideas and the carrier seems to have been mounted higher than normal. I’m not sure how they got round the problem of the reinforcing channel being in the way.

Thanks Gordon.
No problem to see that you have a nice Script Jeep  ... with a very rare "Wehrmacht Kanister". Waooh!

Turned out really nice. Good work Gordon!

Thanks on the best wishes for the operation. Should be fine. It'll just take a bit of stay away time from the Dodges. My wife will be watching me like a hawk.

It was beautiful weather here yesterday as the north wind blew all the smoke out. Problem is that we may have selective power outages due to the extremely hot and dry conditions now. Have a generator on standby just in case. Hope I can get someone to pull the cord...should have went with the electric start!

Hope you can get out and about soon to show off your new kit.

Cheers,
Zeph

That looks awesome.
What does the upper strap connect to if you don’t use the upper bracket? A spare footman loop?

Hi Patrick

The upper strap is fixed to the back of the carrier so the strap bracket is not strictly necessary..........

Gordon, this will be of interest as I recall one of these GPW's had a registration number two digits off of Iris's registration number.

Thanks for that John. Yes, you can see the hood number clearly on the lead vehicle. Maybe Iris was there too. We don’t usually get that much snow here but if we did I think I’d have to give it a go!
I hope the shoulder is still repairing.

Cheers

I thought you would like this information. Yes, the snow is a lot of fun to drive in when one has the right vehicle. Lots of people around here think they can drive in it, but I can tell you they can't. When I first started driving, my friends and I would seek out the show and put our vehicles through their paces. Good way to learn...when one's young. lol

My shoulder is healing well. Been just about two months now. Working on small projects like the bomb trailer. Still waiting to get the canvas figured out on the seats for the Carryall. Frustrating, but I should be 100% soon.

Hope all is well with you...
Zeph

Good to hear from you James. Welcome! Gordon mentioned to me that a new owner was possible.

Yes, the link doesn't work at the moment.
