Thanks guys.

Decided since I'm diving into the brakes soon, why not pop a wheel off and see what I'm looking at. Lug nuts were tight, but the other 6 bolts I could loosen by hand....shaft came out fine, and then I find a heavily chewed up axle nut. Good God someone went to town on this poor thing. But again, barely hand tight. I guess better lose than overly tight, right?

You mean this one Dave
Yes Barrie, that one. I think that we all need to wait for the GPW Judging Standards to come out to see.
But, just what came out of which factory at what time could be an engima.

Dave.

Finished tearing down the left rear brake. Very pleased to report none of the bolts broke or gave a real fight, which is good because they are all F marked. Drum didn't have much wear either, I didnt feel any grooves or spots that would cause concern. I have the replacement cylinder kit so pads springs and cylinders are all getting replaced. tomorrow the back plate is getting sand blasted and painted, then good as new.

Good progress! You might want to take the drums over to an experienced shop to double check them, they can also mic them and let you know how far out of spec they are (there is a limit to how much can be turned).
"Peep" was the name used by the Armored Force for the 1/4 Ton truck early in WWII.

Your floor is in surprisingly good shape, usually it's the hat channel that rusts out, or rusts out the floor above it. Looks oretty good to work with

Looking good!

Before you get too far, make sure to tin around the studs (and bolt holes) where the ground straps go. Much easier to do that with the tub off!
