My daughter just graduated basic training.

Post by raymond » Mon Aug 12, 2019 8:15 am

I present to you Private First Class Beverly Abel.

She did not get here chevrons sewed on before graduation as she was promoted for merit to E2-private second class the day before, and her promotion for getting someone to enlist with her didn't catch up with her until the day of graduation.

First photo is family day, the day before graduation, second is during graduation ceremony. Sorry for quality.

Congratulations,
Thank her for the dedication and thanks to your family for your support. My wife and I know that the family is also very involved when a son or daughter take the oath.

Outstanding !!
Obvious she has come a long way since induction.
See she qualified ( Expert ?? ).
First weapon I qualified with was an M-14. Along time ago. List grew.
No doubt something more exciting now days.
Tell her I am proud of her and give her a big hug for me !!

Good looking young men in your photo as well, Mark.
Graduating from basic was a relief, but then you go on to advanced training.
If that happen to be infantry related, the fun was not over !!
Some relief then, if your next duty station was not in a combat theater.

Beverly has been called up to active duty as part of the 801st Combat Support Hospital. I took her to the airport yesterday. She is currently at Fort Sheridan. From there she thinks it will be to someplace on the West Coast.

God bless her, Raymond. Maybe coming to the Los Angeles area as USNS Comfort or Mercy just tied up on the west coast. If she gets closer to the SF/Oakland bay area, I can offer support. I'm a member of Oakland Navy League and our main mission is support of young enlisted and those deployed. Contact me if needed.

She is home :D They released all the surgical staff, but kept the clinical staff. She asked if their was anything she could do, rather than go home, and they had her stay on for a few more days and help with paperwork and help ferry others just called up and those sent home back and forth to the airport.
