Rather a sad commentary IMO. You might get more of a tax credit as a donation to a museum.

A sad... and increasingly necessary reminder I would argue. What a pathetic hobby it would be if all the reminders were only in museums? Especially if those museums were later told that this flag, or that uniform, or those posters no longer fit the prevailing narrative. Some of the best, focused, collections I've seen were in private hands. They may not get the foot traffic, or the tax write-off, but they are safe from influence just the same.

Absolutely agree, with some history being scrubbed away who knows how important private remnants might be in the future.
