My garage and my WW2 Propaganda

Post by IRQVET » Sun Sep 01, 2019 1:37 pm

So growing up we lived next to a WW2 and Korean War Navy veteran who's garage was plastered with WW2 propaganda. Growing up I also thought that was so cool. So I began collecting re-pops and began building my garage to follow suit.

The use of the term "propaganda" does not sit well with me. "Information, especially of a biased or misleading nature" is the usual definition, usually reserved for governments that intend to do us harm.
Not saying that everything published during WW2 to promote patriotism or to raise money was perfect, but I don't consider them as Propaganda.
You have a nice poster display, but it is not propaganda.
Probably just me.

My mother was born in 1926, and a huge fan of FDR and Truman, but always referred to the movies made during the War as propaganda films.
Like a lot of young people of that era, she went to the movie theater most every Saturday afternoon to watch the serials and B movies.
Just offering a tidbit of one person's experience.
