Family deployment banner

Helping my parents clean out their attic today and I came across this. My grandmother had a husband and a brother deployed to Europe.

I’ve not seen one like it until recently. I was watching an episode of Five Came Back, a Netflix documentary. It was the John Ford Midway film. In it is a lady sitting in a chair with one just like it hanging on the wall. It’s amazing the things that catch our eye.

Here’s another little artifact I found a few weeks ago helping my dad clean out his office. Edelweiss my grandfather brought home.

And since you are a White M3 guy, here’s a picture of my grandfather leaning on his White M3A1.

VERY cool! Thankfully you've saved these precious artifacts. So many are lost to history as decendants don't know or don't care what they represent.

How many of us here have blue star banners hanging up? My daughter joined the Navy 10 years ago and is still serving. When she joined I went out and bought a single blue star banner and it is still hanging on my front door.

Don't fly one myself, Frank.
I don't have any family members in active service at the moment.
But I see a few flags out while I am driving around the countryside.
Another thing I also see is blue porch lights.
Unfortunately, a lot of folks don't know what either is about. These folks just think the person with the blue light forgot to take their Christmas lights down or the blue flags are about something radical.
