My Bantam civvy almost done
Only need a little clean up and paint but my 47 is ready for work. Not posting a bunch of pictures but links if you are interested. Very pleased and mostly original with some stuff for being practical and it will be a useful tool.

Hello Steve,
Very nice !!
It will be a great trailer to use, and I am sure very convenient to use when picking things up.
Great to see another one saved and put back into service ....
Here in the Great State of Florida
Best Regards,
Ray

Where in Florida are you Ray?
Had a fun day today. Nice little shakedown ride, up to 60mph some railroad tracks and curvy side streets, overpass and 1/4 turn off ramp. Towed great and hauled some trees/bushes up to where I have a shredder/chipper and minced them. Having a removable tailgate is best feature of the trailer

Re: My Bantam civvy almost done
Hi Steve,
Looks great !!!
Already paying for itself
I am about 3 hours north of your location.
When I get my Ben Hur trailer done, I have another all steel one that I will use as
a regular trailer once restored.
I also have an early MBT, M100, and my brother has a Bantam that happens to have
a well done tail gate made from the rear panel.
We may just keep it like that for ease of use
when hauling stuff or camping when the china virus is gone.
I am happy to see you making use of your great jeep trailer !!
My neighbor uses a M416 trailer to go to the dump every other weekend.
It looks great !
I really enjoyed the Thomas Edison Laboratory Museum down your way,
an incredible place !!!
Best Regards,
Ray

Very cool, Steve!
You planning on a slide-in chuckwagon thing for camping?

Re: My Bantam civvy almost done
Short term probably not. I have a cook box and pantry I made to sit on wheel wells in my 3a. Have not used them with jeep still parked but have taken them camping and hunting many times. 6' bed would allow me to sleep in it if I wanted still rolling a few things around. Working on some cross pieces and then getting a fitted top for it right now.

Re: My Bantam civvy almost done
Hello Steve,
If you have any pictures of your camp stove and other items, I am sure many would be interested to see.
I think I got the trailer bug, by not even trying
I recently got a Converto Airborne Dump Trailer, and now have found the missing parts, that are being shipped to me.
I also am picking up 3 M416 trailers I bought yesterday that need some work, due to rust through in the floors, and also a tail gate cut out, but needed rescuing !!
But they are complete and camouflage still
When the virus is gone some day, hopefully soon, a camp trailer would be a great thing to take along.
I also discovered seeing a European G member's post, about nicely being able to set up a bed in your MB/ GPWJeep by unbolting the passenger seat and setting it aside.
It gives you plenty of room to fit laying down, and I tried it, it is true
Just wanted to let G members know that if they are camping or on a trail ride and need
a place to sleep, pull the seat, and stretch out, bring some blankets or sleeping bag and pillow then all set
Best Regards,
Ray

Re: My Bantam civvy almost done
Here is some info. I have more but need to remember where I put them and what forum
viewtopic.php?f=19&t=156948&hilit=pantry
Here was trip we took for out 35th anniversary. This is the typical set up of the cook box/pantry and it works very well
This was an even more light set up turkey hunting with my son
All that in the trailer would be easy to do

Re: My Bantam civvy almost done
Next step is done. I am going to get a fitted canvas top for this and made use of the sockets the civvy has. 2x6 southern yellow pine and may just use thompson's or paint not sure. I think I will have to round over edges but until I have canvas people look at what I want to do am not going to. Had to make each one to fit as the trailer obviously is not factory fresh. I now have 24" height inside.
Made a yoke and cut to fit into socket then for crosspiece and screwed together.
Just a little piece of scrap to lay the long brace in. Hope it will keep top from sagging somewhat with water
Pretty happy it is all in my head just going by what I think I need to do.

Re: My Bantam civvy almost done
Had it painted to match my Jeep. Very nice job and I wish I had taken a little more time on finishing the body off but oh well.
This box was on it when I bought it and I like it so back it goes. It was a component box for 2.25 Navy rockets. It can be partitioned off which I like. I have to figure out how to lock the top.
Next getting the cover made.

Re: My Bantam civvy almost done
Yep If the top works out like I think it will should be very good thing to have. I blew up a twin air mattress last night and it fits in the bed just right. Can't get in if it is not hooked up to a vehicle or tied down at front. I am hoping with the spare I am going to put underneath just ahead of the axle I will have the balance point up where it can be used.

Re: My Bantam civvy almost done
Looks terrific.
A word of caution - These trailers have springs for a weighty load but very little empty weight. They have a tendency to leap off the ground and bounce if you hit any substantial irregularity in the pavement at speed because the suspension is too stiff when empty. Make sure whatever you have attached to the box is well secured. (ask me how I know).
Cheers,
